Summer School
Mr. Freddy Shoop, the high school coach, has big plans for the summer, but is forced to cancel them to teach a 'bonehead' English class for misfit goof-off students. Fortunately, his unconventional brand of teaching fun field trips begins to connect with them, and even inspires ardor in some.

if there was any justice in the world we'd be seeing reruns of this on TNT every Sunday instead of endless repeats of Sixteen Candles and its ilkOctober 26, 2008
A comic delight... Harmon and Alley are great togetherJanuary 01, 2000
Here are some of Summer School's favorite things: idiocy, illiteracy, irresponsibility, drunkenness, dumbness and debauchery. Piqued?August 02, 2004
Okay teen/romantic comedy with pleasant players.May 14, 2007
Reiner keeps everything moving while letting Harmon do the heavy lifting as his young co-stars sprinkle the chuckles around.May 15, 2007
Summer School might lack a hipster razor edge, but its funnybone personality is larger than life. It's a film I adore for its purity of intentions.May 20, 2003
Mr. Harmon has an easygoing attractiveness, but neither he nor anyone else seems comfortable with the film's antic pace. And for all its busyness, this comedy has no real focus, ricocheting from character to character with wearying abandon.October 19, 2004
Cliches abound in this silly outing. Not the brightest moment for any of those involved.January 01, 2000
The moral is a sweet one: If you try, you never fail. The world is graded on a curve.January 01, 2000
A comedy so listless, leisurely and unspirited that it was an act of the will for me to care about it, even while I was watching it.June 24, 2006
A bit bland compared to Reiner's Steve Martin comedies, but engagingly played.July 25, 2007
Another failure in Harmon's attempt to move from TV to the big screen.
